I might not be much of an agriculture, farming girl. But I can crawl under a fence and get my boots muddy.
I recently enjoyed heading out to interview a local farmer who has an organically grown farm of veggies, chicken, beef and eggs. It was fascinating to see how they do things a little differently.
For instance, the adorable Dexter cows are grass-fed on 3 acre-pastures, and moved every couple of days. This is easier on the land and spreads their manure better. A portable henhouse follows the cattle, allowing the free-range laying hens to take care of flies in the manure and spread it around.
Anywho, I had a great day at the farm. Here's the article.
