M pretty much always means my mom, Michelle. For the last 30 years, she's used our initials to designate us in writing (you just don't write out 10 kids and 4 grandkids names all the time). There's a couple M names, so we now have Mel, Mi, Me and Ma. But Mom's always just M.
As far as inspirational people go, you could pick half a dozen inspiring things about her (midwife, mom, wife, home-schooler, BSA board member, Outreach counsel at church, plus, plus, plus). She's a machine of good will, running on 4 hours sleep and a glass of carrot juice. I'm not saying this 'cause she brought me into this world; she's literally amazing.
For most of April, she's in Haiti, using her midwifery skills. Here's a quote from her support letter about what she's doing: "Please take time to pray for us, the women & babies we will be serving & for HeartLine Ministries where we will be working. We will be in the capital city, Port au Prince, in a birth center run by HeartLine Ministries. We have also been asked to consult on starting a new birth center in another Christian ministry in the city so it sounds like we will be kept BUSY!"
Here's some facts she added about Haiti:
- 2nd poorest nation in the world
- 80% of the population live in abject poverty
- 3 out of 4 children are malnourished
- very little recovery has be accomplished since the devastating earthquake in 2010
- spiritual warfare is very real in this voodoo capital
Do you know a dynamic person who changes the face of the world, just by waking up? Who inspires you?
